Two men involved in a Wenatchee shooting last week are now charged with murder.

The shooting April 18th in the 800 block of Methow Street led to a chase and eventual car crash in East Wenatchee before the suspects were tracked down and arrested.

25-year-old Andrew Francis Morrow is charged with 1st Degree Murder and 23-year Benito Eduardo Licea faces 2nd Degree Murder charges in the drive by shooting that left David Lomeli-Vasquez dead.

Police say Lomeli-Vasquez's former girlfriend told them he had threatened her with a gun before the shooting, and had sent inappropriate messages about her to Morrow, with whom she was currently dating.

Lomeli-Vasquez was shot on the head during the confrontation with Morrow and Licea, and was pronounced brain dead after being taken to a hospital.

He was later taken off life support and died.

Surveillance video from the 800 block of Methow Street at the time of the shooting shows a white Mercury pull up a 1985 red Honda Accord.

Police say an eye witness to the event told them the red Honda stopped in the middle of the road and a white Mercury Grand Marquis Mercury stopped next to it. The witness then heard a verbal confrontation followed by gunshots, although he was not able to see who was firing the shots.

It was just a few minutes later when police arrived on the scene, where they found Lomeli-Vasquez sitting in the driver's seat of the red Honda with a gunshot wound to the head and gun in his hand.

Lomeli-Vasquez's former girlfriend said she had met up with him before the shooting. Police say she described the gun he had threatened her with, which matched the gun the gun they found in his hand after the shooting.

Police later found a .22LR handgun on the floor of the driver’s side of the Mercury after the chase and arrest of Morrow and Licera.

According to a police report, a bullet fragment retrieved from Lomeli appeared to be from a small caliber gun, “such as a .22LR.”

The information in this story is provided by a probable cause affidavit filed in Chelan County Superior Court Tuesday. It's not known when Morrow and Licea will appear in court.
