Two teenage girls are recovering after being hospitalized for injuries sustained in an assault with a baseball bat.

Grant County Chief Deputy Ken Jones said the two girls, ages 17 and 19, were at a house party at the residence of 40-year-old Jennifer Pugh in Mae Valley early Friday morning. At some point a large altercation broke out and Pugh allegedly injured the girls with a baseball bat.

Staff at Samaritan Hospital in Moses Lake then reportedly alerted authorities after the 17-year-old mentioned the incident while receiving treatment for her injuries.

"Our office did confirm through the investigation that there was no one at this time that wanted to continue to pursue charges." explained Jones, "So our deputies did leave information available to both females to contact us if that was to change."

The extent of either teenager's injuries is unknown.
