East Wenatchee Police closed off the 600 block of Valley Mall Blvd. Tuesday night for several hours after an explosive device was found at the UPS store.

Chief Rick Johnson says the call came in a little before 7:00 p.m.

"A person there had opened a package that they had reason to believe contained a grenade. I don't have information on why they believed that or who it was from, but it did indeed have a grenade. It was unknown if it was live."

An explosives team from Yakima was called up to dispose of the grenade.

Chief Johnson says the case is still being investigated, so it's unclear if there will be any charges filed.
