Vehicle Fire Destroys ATV Monday

A side by side ATV was completely destroyed by fire Monday evening near Tony's Market in the 1600 block of Grant Road.

East Wenatchee Police Chief Rick Johnson said officers and crews from Douglas County Fire District 2 responded to a vehicle completely engulfed in flames just before 7:00 pm.

"The investigation determined that it was a gas can that was being hauled in the back that had tipped over and leaked on to the engine compartment, located in the back of that vehicle. It caught fire and responding units did traffic control until fire (crews) got the fire out," explained Johnson.

There were no injuries, and no charges are expected.
