Walla Walla Point Park in Wenatchee will be one of over 600 locations nationally to host the 2021 Walk to End Alzheimer's Saturday, September 18th.

Manager Erica Grissmerson said the Alzheimer's Association is the 3rd-largest non-profit fundraiser of Alzheimer's cure research in the world behind only the U.S. and China. Proceeds from the walk will also help fund local Alzheimer's programs like support groups, education webinars and awareness campaigns.

"We're going to try and do everything as touchless and as contactless as possible." said Grissmerson, "We're asking all of our participants to register early and to register online."

Grissmerson added that options for participating online or walking from home are also available.

Participants will meet at Picnic Shelter #2 in Walla Walla Point Park. Registration opens at 8:30 am, with the event beginning with a Promise Garden Ceremony at 9:30 am. The walk is roughly a mile both ways and is fully accessible.

The free event is family and pet friendly. Participants who donate or raise $100 or more will receive a 2021 Walk to End Alzheimer's t-shirt in the mail.

Organizers hope to raise $45,000 locally. Over $30,000 had been collected as of September 9th.
