A few hundred patrons wandered through the Wenatchee Valley Farmers Market Saturday for the opening of the 2020 season.

Market Manager Jessica Huerta says there was a good turnout of both customers and vendors.

"I think people want something a little bit more normal back in their lives and coming back to the market and being able to come out and shop for produce and still have somewhat of a social connection even though we are distancing and limiting the amount of time we're spending in the market. I think that that was probably something people were looking for."

There were several measures in place for health safety including limited numbers of people in the market, no touching of merchandise before purchase, one entrance, and spacing between vendors.

Huerta says she heard a lot of positive response.

"Talking to vendors, they all did pretty well today and they were really happy with it. We're so happy to be part of a community that's so supportive."

The market was kept a little smaller in terms of vendors and customers as part of the measures that were in place due to the pandemic but there was still a variety of things to buy like produce, plants, honey, baked goods and more.
