The Wenatchee Valley Chamber of Commerce and Wenatchee Downtown Association, along with 70 locally based exhibitors, opened the doors to the job fair Wednesday morning to eager applicants. The job fair is taking place until 3 p.m. at the Wenatchee Convention Center.

"We are hiring for housekeeping, the front desk, maintenance, the night audit," said Charlotte Mayo, general manager of Wenatchee based Residence Inn. "We have quite a few positions open. We have really good benefits, they're a great company to work for. I feel very blessed I can be here and part of opening the hotel."

Residence Inn is a new Wenatchee hotel right across from Lowe's, next to the entrance to Walla Walla Point Park. The hotel has been under construction for roughly a year and a half with plans to open in August.

"Our business has not slowed down, home building is good so we have some positions we're looking to fill and it's been difficult to attract the candidates we're looking for," said Rodney Bullion, director of learning & development for TAL Holdings LLC, the owner of Marson and Marson Lumber. "We're looking for anybody who likes to help people. If you are in tune with talking to people, we would like to talk to you."

Folks that stop by the fair can participate in raffles. The Chelan Douglas Health District will be onsite until 3 p.m. with a Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 pop up vaccination clinic.
