Washington State Department of Transportation is reminding drivers to brace themselves for the impending traffic as the Leavenworth 'Village of Lights' festival starts this upcoming weekend, December 4. The next three Saturdays - 4, 11 and 18 - will have visitors coming to and from on US 2 between Leavenworth and Wenatchee.

"Last year, when there wasn't a switching on of the lights we saw a spread of the traffic, less of the traffic congestion during that early evening timeline," said Lauren Loebsack, communications manager. "We still saw heavier than normal traffic on the weekends."

WSDOT has worked with community partners to identify traffic improvement during festival weekends. One of the ways that is implemented for traffic congestion improvement is by restricting left hand turns on certain streets in Leavenworth.

These traffic restrictions will include:

No left turns from Evans St. onto US 2.
No left turns from Front St. onto US 2.
No left turns from US 2 onto Chumstick Highway.
