Applications to be a member of the Apple Blossom Junior Royalty are being accepted on the organization's website.

Festival Administrator Darci Christoferson says fifth grade girls in either the Wenatchee or Eastmont School Districts can apply.

"As Junior Royalty you will do some events with our big royalty. You will ride on our smaller float to a couple of parades. You will ride in the Youth Parade. You'll carry the banner for the Grand Parade. You get a cute little dress and another outfit, so you're kind of treated like big royalty, but you're junior royalty."

Christoferson says the program started in 1994 to help boost interest in the primary Royal Court.

"It's kind of become a finishing school for a younger girl. Every year the parents always come to us and say, 'Oh my gosh, this has been the best experience for my fifth-grade daughter. She is ready for middle school now. It's been a really awesome thing."

Christoferson says the girls that take part in Junior Royalty can oftentimes try to be the Festival Queen, including one of the Top 10 this year.

Applications are available on AppleBlossom.org.
