A group of 10 Republican and 10 Democrat senators are pushing a bi-partisan infrastructure bill that would cost an estimated $950 billion.

4th District Representative Dan Newhouse said he absolutely thinks a bipartisan agreement is possible, but it needs to invest in what he calls 'true' infrastructure items like roads, bridges, airports and broadband. He added that he's getting the sense from Republican leadership in the Senate that they are still open to the latest round of negotiations

"I think we truly do need to invest in our infrastructure." stated Newhouse, "That's the foundation of what our economy is built on, literally."

How the bill is funded is key according to Newhouse, as the U.S. "can't just mortgage its future."

Progressive Senate Democrats are also pushing a roughly $6 trillion infrastructure package that would instead use budget reconciliation to by-pass GOP opposition.
