Cashmere City Council Contemplates Allocation of American Rescue Plan Funds
The city of Cashmere is directing city council to prioritize American Rescue Plan funding for utilities and the city pool. City council is expected to discuss the usage of the funds at Monday, September 27, council meeting.
"[We could use] the monies possibly on fixing our swimming pool, because the city pool leaks a lot of water and fixing leaks in water systems is allowed under (the ARP funding rules)," said Mayor Jim Fletcher. "The pool is going to be very expensive to repair and by using that money, we're hoping that would benefit the most people in town."
The city is advising council to also use ARP funding to support utilities, including water and sewer improvements. Water safety projects are eligible to be supported with ARP funds.
"We're looking at how to benefit everyone in town with this money," said Mayor Fletcher.
The council meeting starts at 6 p.m.
