Chelan County Fire District 1 recently acquired new brush trucks at the beginning of September as well as gaining a handful of other resources to help the community. The district will also move into the new Station 10 the last week of October.

Two new Type 3 brush trucks and two new fire engines on a lease purchase program have been added to the fleet, as well as rebuilding one of the district's previously owned 2007 fire engines.

"We were able to get credit from the Washington State Rating Bureau for our rating because we had the order placed even though they weren't here yet," said Chief Brian Brett.

The rating from WSRB has an impact on insurance premium's for those in the district's area.

Beyond the addition of trucks, the district is working toward Phase 1 of a second helicopter build.

"We're shopping around for the engines, transmissions, etc. trying to get those through federal excess property programs," said Chief Brett.

The second build is at Northwest Helicopters in Tumwater.
