The Chelan County Regional Jail is hosting a town hall meeting next Tuesday, October 29, to give the community an opportunity to gain insight and educate folks on what is unfolding on the jail's operational side. The meeting is from 6-7 p.m. at the Confluence Technology Center with refreshments provided.

"The purpose is really to reach out and educate the community that we serve on basically how our jail operates. Most people don't really understand the complexity of jail operations," said Bill Larsen, director of CCRJ.

Most of the inner workings at the jail aren't on a platform the public is capable of observing, however this forum offers folks a chance to get a transparent grasp of the operations. During the town hall meeting, there will be a ten minute overview of the jail's history, the process when someone is booked, the internal operations and the safety and security challenges the jail faces. After the synopsis, the floor will be opened for the community to raise questions.

"Hopefully (we'll) be able to educate the public and garner a little bit of understanding and support," said Larsen.
