Chelan Swim Provides Little Ones Swim Lessons
Mastering how to swim is not only beneficial so aquatic enthusiasts can perfect their swan dive and breaststroke, but also a life saver especially for a place like Lake Chelan with water nearby. Wrap up the summer and help kids graduate out of their floaties with the Lake Chelan Swim Fundraiser this Saturday at Manson Bay Park from 9 a.m. till noon. Adults and children over 12 are invited to participate and registration extends to the day of from 9-10:30.
"It's a swim from Willow Point Park to Manson Bay Park," said Viki Downey, Aquatic Supervisor for Manson Parks and Recreation. "All of the funds raised during the swim, including donations and registration fees, go to free swim lessons for all the youth in the Chelan Valley."
A group raising money for swim lessons certainly didn't forget to implement safety measures. Downey said several safety precautions are in place for the swimmers as they make the 1.5 mile swim.
"We'll have kayak support, safe boats out there, jetskis with trained personnel on them for the safety of the swimmers," said Downey.
There is also a mandatory safety meeting for swimmers at 11 a.m. at Manson Bay Park.
