A Chelan and Manson winter tradition, WinterFest, is back packed with a variety of activities offered in the Chelan Valley over the course of two weekends. The first weekend, January 17-19, is based in downtown Chelan and the second weekend, January 24-26, is based in downtown Manson.

There will be some new additions to this year's Winterfest.

"One of them that's going to be fairly new is the Gary Knowlton Water Lantern Memorial. All of the funds will go to the Lake Chelan swim (which provides free swim lessons for kids)," said Debbie Conwell, executive director of Manson Chamber of Commerce.

Folks can get a lantern to honor someone as a memorial or write a message and then push them off into the lake. This particular event is on January 25 at 7:30. There will also be the return of favored events like the Mystery Mitten Walk from 12-4 on the 25th and the Viki Downey Polar Bear Swim and Bonfire from 1-2 on the 25th as well.

"Of course we have our Alefest, which is put on by the Chelan Chamber, and is probably one of our largest events," said Conwell. "We have a larger tent this year to accomodate more people."
