A cougar, first spotted around 9:20 Tuesday morning, jumped over fences and ran down side streets in Ephrata before being cornered in a home.

Ephrata Police Captain Erik Koch said law enforcement canvassed the area in an effort to find the big cat and eventually they got a call from a homeowner.

"He was out having a cup of coffee and the cougar ran by him." explained Koch, "He said it tried to jump in through a window and bounced off of the window. He had a backdoor that was open, but the screen door was closed. The cougar jumped through the screen door into his house."

Eventually, officers from Fish and Wildlife were able to tranquilize the cougar in the home. It was then put in a sling and eventually relocated back into the wild.

There were no injuries.
