Dan Newhouse Talks New Session
4th District Representative Dan Newhouse recently spoke about the start of Congress' new session.
The Republican admitted that having a House of Representatives in opposition of the Senate and President was not ideal.
"We do have a dynamic (government). I guess you could say divided is one way to describe it." Newhouse said, "We have a lot of issues that we seem to have different perspectives on, different opinions on moving forward. But I do think we can accomplish some things."
However, Newhouse explained that there is a real opportunity for optimism on the issue of trade.
The representative from Sunnyside said, "Over the last several weeks, while many of us were in our districts, I'm hearing from my colleagues that they have heard from their constituents loud and clear that we need to have positive movement on some of the trade negotiations."
Newhouse added that passing the USMCA and strengthening our ability to come to an agreement with China were the two most important trade items that need to be addressed.
