A meeting to determine whether a large apartment complex can be built in East Wenatchee is now set for next Wednesday.

The Douglas County Planning Commission delayed a meeting last month on the proposed 290-unit complex because of the large number of people in attendance, and the failure of a Zoom video setup to work.

Neighbors have objected to the project at Fifth and Lyle Streets over the level of noise, traffic and parking problems it could bring.

The area is zoned for lower density housing but city staff have endorsed a change to allow for the project from Wilkinson Corporation of Yakima.

The Planning Commission has arranged for overflow seating at next Wednesday's meeting.

It'll take place at the 5:30pm at Douglas County District Courtroom on 19th St NW in East Wenatchee, with overflow seating at the Douglas County Public Services Building on the same street.

A zoom video has once again been set up for the meeting.

The proposed project would be built on a 24-acre lot and would include a swimming pool, sports court, dog park and an interconnecting trail.
