East Wenatchee City Council is discussing potentially renaming Columbus Day to Indigenous People's Day at the Thursday evening workshop. The Indigenous Roots and Reparation Foundation is prompting the city to make the change.

"They asked last year, unfortunately, it came at a time we had some council members absent and they wanted to discuss it a little further so we had to push it into 2022," said Mayor Jerrilea Crawford. "But that's still great, it's worthy of a good conversation of the council to make the decision on the position of East Wenatchee."

No action is taken at city council workshops, only discussion.
