Eastmont School Board Welcomes New Members While Also Saying ‘Farewell’

The Eastmont School Board is welcoming two new members after Jason Heinz and Joy Dawe were sworn in earlier in the week.

Superintendent Garn Christensen said Douglas County Superior Court Judge Brian Huber was dressed in his finest black robe as he administered the oath of office.

"There were also some prior board members who had served with our outgoing Board President Annette Eggers." stated Christensen, "Both Steve Piccirillo and Chris Gibbs had some thankful things to say to Annette and to the Eastmont board. They shared they greatly appreciated her service to the district."

Piccirillo had opted not to run in this year's election. Gibbs had previously announced a similar decision back in 2019.

The board also determined next year's board assignments. Whitney Smith was voted as Board President, while Cindy Wright will be Vice President. Meaghan Vibbert was made the board's legislative representative, and Jason Heinz will be their Washington Interscholastic Activities Association rep.
