Eastmont to Spend $700,000 on Parcel Near EHS

Eastmont School District is finalizing an agreement to purchase property adjacent to Eastmont High School on the corner of 5th Street Northeast and North Iowa Avenue.

Assistant Superintendent Matt Charlton said the school board recently gave staff the approval to proceed with the $700,000 purchase.

"If and when that purchase is completed the school district doesn't have any immediate plans for that property." Charlton explained, "But it does kind of make that whole Eastmont High School parcel of property now contiguous."

Charlton added that the short-term plan is to rent the property, which includes a house and small orchard, until a school use for the entire parcel is decided upon.

The district previously conducted a feasibility study to ensure that the property can be used for future educational purposes. No objections were identified in the study.
