A domestic violence suspect is in custody after a standoff Friday morning outside of Moses Lake.

Kyle Foreman with the Grant County Sheriff's Office said deputies responded to a trespassing call on Castle Drive in the Larson neighborhood north of Moses Lake in which the caller could hear a man and a woman yelling inside a motor home. Deputies were able to get the woman out, but the man barricaded himself inside.

It was at that point that K9 Chewbacca and his handler, Corporal Nic Overland, were called in.

"After a short standoff, Chewy barked and that compelled the man to come out of the motor home."

The suspect, 37-year-old Jeremy Madewell, was booked into the Grant County Jail on 2nd Degree Assault - Domestic Violence, Residential Burglary and Unlawful Imprisonment - Domestic Violence.

The woman is now safe.

Foreman added that if someone is experiencing domestic violence Grant or Adams County, or know someone who is, they can always call New Hope at (888) 560-6027.
