The Grant County Sheriff's K9 team of Corporal Nic Overland and Chewbacca captured a wanted felon Wednesday morning just after 6:30 am in the Moses Lake area.

Law enforcement first received a 9-1-1 call about a suspicious person walking along the 8700 block of Lybbert Drive Northeast in Moses Lake.

Public Information Officer Kyle Foreman said Overland and 'Chewy' then found the subject, 22-year-old Marco Garcia of Moses Lake, on the 4000 block of Airway drive Northeast.

"When Corporal Overland got over there, he recognized Marco Garcia as the person who was being reported." Foreman explained, "Marco saw Corporal Overland and Chewbacca and didn't want to have anything to do with them, so he took off running into the the Upper Basin Homes neighborhood."

Deputies then made a perimeter around the area while Chewbacca tracked Garcia.

"They found Garcia lying down in some tall weeds. Chewbacca grabbed onto Garcia's right arm and held onto him until deputies could take him into custody," Foreman continued.

Garcia was treated at the scene and then taken to Samaritan Hospital before being booked into the Grant County Jail for a felony burglary warrant, obstructing law enforcement, a prior 4th degree assault - domestic violence charge, and an outstanding probation violation.
