The Grant County Sheriff's Office released more details on the police incident on Straford Road just north of Moses Lake Wednesday afternoon.

PIO Kyle Foreman said 24-year-old Michael Cera Barajas of Moses Lake was reportedly armed and threatened to shoot the deputies responding to the domestic violence incident he was involved in on Maple Drive NE. Barajas then fled the scene unarmed, prompting an hour-long manhunt that ended with his surrender after K9 Chewbacca's release.

"Chewbacca did not have to make an contact with Barajas. If you've ever met Chewbacca, Chewbacca is a huge, long-haired German Shepard that's pretty intimidating and about the size of a small bear." Foreman detailed, "So usually Chewbacca just had to make his presence known by barking and appearing, and most bad guys decide to surrender rather than get into an altercation with him."

Barajas was lodged in the Grant County Jail for unlawful imprisonment (domestic violence) and three outstanding misdemeanor warrants.
