The Grant PUD will be offering a series of open houses for customers to weigh in and learn about planned power system improvements for the Quincy area. One project will focus on building more power lines and a switchyard in and around Quincy and the other project will extend a transmission line from the Wanapum switchyard to the Mountain View substation.

"Our Quincy 230 kV Transmission Improvements Project, which is building more transmission power lines and a switchyard in Quincy, is to accommodate anticipated growth," said Chuck Allen, Grant PUD public affairs supervisor. "A lot of folks in Quincy, I'm sure, are seeing the phenomenal growth that's happening in the community and we need to keep up with the demand for power."

Two open houses will be held in person at the Port of Quincy's conference center on both February 8 and 16 from 5 to 7 p.m. on the Quincy improvements.

"(The other project we're working on) is the Wanapum to Mountain View 230 kV Transmission Line Project, which extends a 32-mile transmission line from the Wanapum switchyard to the Mountain View substation," said Allen. "This project is to provide additional power capacity and reliability."

An open house will also be offered at the George Community Hall on February 22 from 5 to 7 p.m. The final in person open house will be on March 2 at the Port of Quincy's conference center from 5 to 7 p.m. These two open houses will be for the planned George improvements.

Online meetings will be offered on February 17 and March 3 for both projects.

Spanish language translation will be offered at the open houses as well.
