The City of East Wenatchee received two grants worth $2.9 million total from the National Highway Systems to fund a couple of projects on Grant Road.

The city put in both requests back in February. One project will install a concrete intersection at Grant Road and Eastmont. The other request was to get Grant Road overlaid from Georgia to Kentucky.

Natural Resource Specialist Garren Melton said, "We are very thankful for those (grants) and getting the process started. We're hoping to have both of those (projects) built in 2023."

The grants are what's called 'zero match', meaning East Wenatchee does not need to contribute any funds.
