Irrigation district water in the East Wenatchee area wont be turned on until mid-April thanks to a delay in getting new pumps.

The pumps are needed to bring water from the Columbia River to customers in the district's East Unit.

Greater Wenatchee Irrigation District Manager Craig Gyselinck said a $3 million project to replace almost 60-year-old infrastructure included products from all over North America.

"Our pumps are being built in Texas right now. We had some new motors that were built in Monterey, Mexico. All of our electrical equipment came from Canada," said Gyselinck.

The water turn-on date for the district's Howard Flats and Bray Landing units will still be Monday, March 21st.
