Large Grant County Solar Farm Approved
Illinois-based Invenergy is putting up a 700-acre solar farm north of Grant County International Airport.
According to our news partner iFIBER ONE, Invenergy plans to develop a photovoltaic solar electrical generating facility with an energy storage system that will generate up to 120 megawatts of renewable energy. The solar farm will connect to Grant PUD's transmission system.
The project is about one mile northwest of the main runway at the Grant County International Airport, at 5010 Road 10 Northeast.
Grant County approved the permits needed for building to start in mid-August. The county says Invenergy hopes to finish construction by the end of this year.
