Leavenworth Paragliding Victim Identified

A Leavenworth man died Sunday morning after a paragliding accident near Eagle Creek Road about five miles northeast of town.

Chelan County Sheriff's Office Chief Jason Reinfeld said 42-year-old Samuel Broaddus fell about 1,000 feet to a location that was difficult to access. Other paragliders were actually able to reach him first.

"Initially with the helicopter we were delayed due to a battery issue." Reinfeld explained, "Once that was repaired the helicopter was able to respond to the scene and they were able to use that to lift the victim out."

CPR was attempted on Broaddus but he passed away. The cause of the accident is currently unknown.

Chelan County Fire District 1, Chelan County Fire District 3 and Cascade Ambulance also responded to the crash.
