Malaga Brush Fire Requires Assistance from DNR Helicopter
A brush fire in the 7100 block of Tarpiscan Road southeast of Malaga Wednesday afternoon burned roughly 6 to 7 acres and required resources from Chelan County Fire District 1, Douglas County Fire District 2, and the DNR.
CCFD1 Battalion Chief Cari Neu said when crews got to the fire around 1:00 pm, they started stretching out lines to keep the fire from creeping closer to a nearby structure.
"The fire continued burning up the hill. A (DNR) helicopter arrived and was able to start putting some buckets on the head of the fire and kept it from spreading much further," explained Neu.
The fire was in mop-up by about the mid afternoon.
The cause is still under investigation.
