A winter storm is expected to pound the Cascades, including local passes, with up to 2 feet of snow starting Tuesday night.

National Weather Service Meteorologist Todd Carter said the storm will increase in intensity and could bring between 15 and 24 inches of fresh snow to passes in our region. The very active weather pattern will taper off by mid Thursday.

Carter added that the weather event will be about average for a wintertime snowstorm. A Winter Weather Advisory is likely to be issued for the east slopes of the Cascades ahead of the storm.

The Wenatchee Valley is likely to see 2-3 inches of snow, with higher amounts of snow for the Waterville Plateau. Another round of heavy snow is expected to begin hitting the Cascades Friday.
