A suspect driving erratically in the commercial area of I-90 and SR 17 Sunday morning around 11:00 am led officers on a chase that ended in the sand dunes.

Captain Dave Sands said 25-year-old Wesley Ball of Moses Lake reached speeds of 90 miles an hour when he attempted to avoid pursuing officers in his Buick, eventually turning into the Moses Lake Sand Dunes and getting stuck.

"An ORV deputy from Grant County responded, took our officer and his K9 partner out to the vehicle where the suspect was taken into custody. The suspect admitted to having done some drugs and was hoping to beat the police car in a race."

Ball was booked into Grant County Jail for attempting to elude police, driving with a suspended license 3rd degree, and a felony warrant.
