It's been just over a week since Washington State moved onto Daylight Saving Time and almost two years since state lawmakers voted to move off of standard time permanently.

4th District Representative Dan Newhouse said there will likely be a push this spring and summer to allow states to remain on Daylight Saving Time if they so choose.

"In fact I was going to prime sponsor a bill to do that, but Chris Stewart from Utah beat me to the punch." explained Newhouse, "So I signed onto his bill to make it a reality."

Federal approval is required before a state can move onto Daylight Saving Time permanently. Currently 24 states, including Washington, are awaiting that approval.
