Representative Dan Newhouse was honored as Legislator of the Year by the Pacific Northwest Waterways Association (PNWA) Wednesday at the group’s annual convention in Vancouver, Washington.

In a statement, Executive Director Kristin Meira said, "Congressman Newhouse has been one of the most vocal supporters of renewable hydropower and reliable, efficient inland navigation in our Congressional delegation, prominently highlighting the Columbia Snake River System in hearings, press conferences, and other venues in his district and the nation’s capital."

PNWA's Legislator of the Year award is given annually to a member of Congress who has shown "above and beyond" support for economic development, navigation infrastructure, and waterborne commerce in the Northwest.
