Newhouse Named Assistant House Republican Whip

4th District Representative Dan Newhouse announced Monday that he was named Assistant Whip by Republican Whip Steve Scalise of Louisiana.

As Assistant Whip, Newhouse will be tasked with mobilizing Republican votes in support of conservative priorities in the House of Representatives.

In a statement Newhouse said, "As part of the Whip Team, I will be an active voice on behalf of our nation's rural and agricultural communities, working to ensure our Republican Conference understands the negative impacts of the Democrats' partisan policies."

In his own statement, Republican Whip Scalise cited Newhouse's background in farming, state legislating, and appropriations experience, saying they will make an immediate impact on their whip operation.
