Newhouse Reacts to Green New Deal Reintroduction, Calls it ‘Radical Wish List’
Congressman Dan Newhouse gave his reaction Thursday to the reintroduction of the Green New Deal.
Newhouse said some long term goals in the legislation are valid, but we can't abandon energy from sources like fossil fuels right now since our renewable energy can't support demand currently.
"One example is the president stopping the construction of the Keystone XL pipeline. It puts thousands of people out of work and prevents the processing of petroleum products in this country which will make us more reliant on other countries around the world. It won't reduce the demand of oil products, but will just increase the cost to us."
The Sunnyside Republican added all of us want to be responsible stewards of the our country, but we also want to have a driving economy, vibrant communities and good jobs.
One of the congressman's biggest concerns is the Green New Deal's supposed cost, which Newhouse claims is in the neighborhood of $93 trillion over 10 years.
