Newhouse Requests Investigation into Southern Border

Representative Dan Newhouse joined other Republicans from the House Appropriations Committee in sending a letter to Committee Chair Rosa DeLauro asking she hold investigative hearings regarding the southern border.

Newhouse said that within the past two and a half months illegal border crossings have dramatically increased, and what has resulted is a complete overwhelming of the Border Patrol.

"There has been many policy changes from the Biden Administration that I think are actually encouraging people to come to the border to cross illegally, which is very concerning." Newhouse explained, "So as part of our request, we want to look at what's going on. Know first hand what's happening so that we know how to respond."

According to the letter, 200,000 attempted illegal border crossings have already occurred at the southern border this year, sometimes more than 5,000 a day.
