Popular Hunting Seasons Open Saturday
Two popular hunting seasons open up this Saturday, October 12, for modern firearm deer hunters and waterfowl hunters.
"All of Chelan, Douglas and Okanogan counties can expect a pretty average year," said Sean Dougherty, district wildlife biologist. "Chances are really good anyone that's hunting in those areas can expect average numbers of deer."
According to Dougherty, despite winter conditions being slightly harsh, the spring and summer conditions were favorable. He also advised hunters to be aware of the rules before heading to the field.
"Hunters should be mindful of private lands and make sure they're hunting where they have permission. Ensure their access is all squared away," said Doughtery.
Waterfowl season, including duck, goose, coot and snipe season, opens on Saturday as well.
