Wenatchee Valley College (WVC) President Dr. Jim Richardson will be retiring effective June 30th.

Community Relations Executive Director Libby Siebens said that during his time at WVC Richardson oversaw the development of new types of degrees, academic courses and the construction of multiple new buildings.

"Dr. Richardson has been serving with Wenatchee Valley College for 17 years and is our college's longest-serving president," said Siebens.

Richardson has worked in higher education since 1976. He came to WVC from West Burlington, Iowa, where he was president of Southeastern Community College. Before that, Richardson worked at colleges across the country as well as in China and South Korea.

During Richardson's tenure enrollment of students of color increased from 22% to 58%.

Richardson and his wife will likely return to his home state of Wisconsin to be closer to family.

The WVC Board of Trustees will convene January 25th to discuss the college's next steps.
