National Republicans are targeting Washington's 8th Congressional District seat held by Democrat Kim Schrier as one they hope to flip in November.

But they'll have to step up fundraising as Schrier holds a commanding four-to-one advantage over all of her Republican opponents in the latest reporting period.

Schrier is reaping the benefits of being an imbuement, with many of her large $5,000 donations coming from national groups, such as Emily's List and the SEIU labor union.

Republicans could be waiting to find out which GOP challenger - Jesse Jensen, Matt Larkin or Reagan Dunn - emerges as their strongest candidate before pouring more money into the contest.

To date, Schrier has raised more than $4 million and has almost $5 million in cash on hand.

Among Republicans, Jensen ($816,131.09), who lost in the 2020 general election to Schrier, has outraised Larkin ($629,713.00) and Dunn ($605,658.95).

Dunn, a King County Councilman, has the most cash on hand ($466,622.66) between the three.

Both parties have identified the 8th District as a key race in determining control of the House

It has traditionally been the biggest swing district in Washington, although redistricting this year could nudge it slightly closer to Democrats.

The August 2 primary election will narrow the race down to the top 2 candidates for the November ballot.

The fundraising numbers are based on reporting by the candidates to the Federal Election Commission as of the recent April 15 deadline.
