Seasonal weight restrictions have gone into effect in the Wenatchee and Chelan road districts.

Chelan County Public Works PIO Jill FitzSimmons said freight haulers are reminded to hand in a completed permit by 10:00 am Monday through Thursday prior to the day they wish to travel.

"What happens every year with the snow melt and the runoff is all that water can soften our roads." explained FitzSimmons, "So we put on these temporary weight restrictions so to avoid any potential costly damages to the roadway."

Restrictions are upcoming for the Cashmere, Leavenworth, and Entiat road districts. The measures can run into June.

Exempt vehicles include emergency vehicles, school buses or vehicles possessing a special county permit.
