Fire activity in the northwest section of the Twenty Five Mile fire on Saturday caused a small increase in acreage and the fire is now 22,061 acres, but remains at 50% containment.

According to public information officer, Loretta Benavidez, crews worked on repairing hand lines along the northeast perimeter and continued to patrol, monitor and repair along the perimeter Saturday. Crews will continue chipping efforts along the southern perimeter and north of the 5900 Road Sunday. Additional resources will be assigned to rehab work to strengthen the suppression repair efforts.

"Today (Sunday) we expect the weather temperature to start increasing slightly into the middle of the week and that could help fuels dry out a little bit. But with the current conditions, there's enough humidity and precipitation that has moderated fire behavior," said Benavidez.

The fire did receive cooler temperatures on Saturday and precipitation started Friday and into the weekend.
