Vulnerable Persons Event Re-scheduled for Dec. 2nd
The regional Vulnerable Persons Registry has been rescheduled for December 2nd at The Brave Warrior Project on Mission St. in Wenatchee and is a free registration process to register as a vulnerable person into the local law enforcement database.
Wenatchee Police Captain Edgar Reinfeld says the database helps identify those people and their helpers rapidly.
"The event is really about those who might be out and about but have difficulty communicating their needs, their identity and where they belong."
The registration process includes a picture of the person and information about family and emergency contacts.
Reinfeld says the database is accessed by Chelan County Sheriff's Office, East Wenatchee Police, Douglas County Sheriff's Office and Wenatchee P.D.
"It's really useful for older people who have issues with alzheimers and dementia who might wander off. It's extremely useful for children who have communication issues and a tendency to wander."
The April event was canceled due to the pandemic.
