Ski and snow board resorts in North Central Washington are feeling the effects of the unseasonably warm weather in the region.

Mission Ridge opened over the last weekend, but will be closed this Friday, and lists its schedule for this Saturday and Sunday as "to be determined."

Stevens Pass says its pushing back its target opening day, which was this Friday, out of a need for colder temperatures and snow.

The current snow level of 10,000 feet is far above the peak elevation of both resorts.

The level is expected to drop to 2,000 feet by Thursday night, but the National Weather Service is not expecting much accumulation of snow through the weekend.

A statement on the Steven Pass Facebook page said, "Recent unseasonably warm temps and rain are impacting our ability to open this week."

Despite the lack of snow, Stevens Pass is still advertising the final day to get a season pass as this Sunday.

Mission Ridge opened with considerable fanfare the day after Thanksgiving, before record setting temperatures set in.
