The Chelan-Douglas Emergency Operations Center says the Washington National Guard is sending 10 Guardsmen to Wenatchee to help with food distribution at the Town Toyota Center.

Executive Director of the Chelan-Douglas Community Action Council Alan Walker says this will help in their work with the more than 20 non-profit food banks in the area.

"We will be using the National Guard to relieve some of the pressure off of us because it takes 6-8 people every time we go out with loads of food to handle that distribution process. They are coming to help us with that."

Chelan County Sheriff's Office Emergency Management Specialist Rich Magnusson says the Guardsmen will arrive Thursday after a request was made.

They will remain here through the month of April.
