Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife is rolling out proposed changes to hunting regulations for the 2022-2023 hunting season. According to WDFW, most proposals are minor details, like hunting area descriptions.

One larger scale proposed update will impact the regulations for importing and retaining non-resident deer, elk or moose carcasses into Washington state.

"Under the proposed changes, if you hunt out of state, you must make sure you are not transporting whole unprocessed carcasses into Washington," said Kyle Garrison, WDFW ungulate section manager. "We are changing this regulation to help prevent introducing chronic wasting disease into our state."

WDFW is opening the public comment period from February 2 through March 19. For details on how to provide comment or more in depth summaries of proposed changes, visit here.
