The annual Wenatchee Central Lions Club All-Star Basketball games are coming up on March 18th at the Wenatchee Valley College gym.

Buell Hawkins says it's more than just a fundraiser for the group.

"We want to give an opportunity for high school boys and girls in the area to showcase their talents and maybe prove to themselves and others that if they are from a small school, they can compete with kids from a big school. Plus it gives the college the opportunity to recruit these kids because the college provides the coaches for the games."

A committee will get together and select the players who are invited to play.

Hawkins says all the money raised from the night goes back into their charitable programs.

"We sponsor the youth recognition program where we go out into the elementary schools and junior high schools. We also provide awards to kids from WestSide and Wenatchee High School and scholarships to go to college."

The girls contest takes place at 5:30 with the boys game afterwards.

Tickets are available at the door and are $10 for adults and $5 for students.
