The following is a letter from Wenatchee Wild play by play broadcaster Arch Ecker, released via the Wenatchee Wild:

Greetings, Wild Nation! This is an update from Arch Ecker:

In case you’ve not heard, I was involved in a single vehicle rollover accident near Ritzville on the way home from a visit with family. I required back surgery to fuse three vertebrae. It turned out there was a fair bit of internal damage as well to go along with six broken ribs, a cracked sternum, and a fractured clavicle. I have been hospitalized since the wreck. And yes, I was wearing my seatbelt.

I’m soon to be transferred to a rehab facility where I can work on regaining the strength, I’ve lost during nine weeks of bed confinement.

The support from the Wild Nation collectively and individually has been tremendously uplifting. From David and Lisa White, Bliss and the coaches to the booster club and casual fans… I’ve been lifted by you and trust me, there are times I’ve really needed it.

It’s frustrating to not be spending my days in preparation for the coming season. Instead, my days are filled with all the usual hospital things. It remains my intention to return to my role calling games, though the time frame is a moving target. I’m at a loss as to trying to project when I will be ready to go.

One blessing has been that while I was on a ventilator for a while, they opted to use a tracheotomy to preserve my vocal cords.

Simple saying” thank you” will never be enough to show my appreciation but for now, to be honest its all I can muster. But I assure you, I do something every day to prove myself worthy of your love and support and to get back on the airwaves calling Wild hockey.

Where I belong.

God bless #wildfamily #wildstrong
