White House Reaches Deal on Infrastructure Package
White House officials have reached a deal with a group of bipartisan senators on a $1.2 trillion infrastructure package.
Congressman Dan Newhouse said the agreement is a general structure, although not a whole lot of details have been made available to members of the House.
"It was a small, several page summary that we did see that only mentioned a couple things." explained Newhouse, "One thing that was of particular interest to me was the inclusion of money for additional water storage in the western states."
Newhouse added that there are a lot of moving pieces to the deal and its unclear if Congressional Republicans or progressive Congressional Democrats will support the package.
According to the White House, $312 billion would go to transportation and $266 billion would go to 'other' infrastructure like the power grid, broadband, and environmental remediation.
