The National Weather Service has released their outlook for this upcoming winter. Meteorologist Jeffrey Cote says there is a slightly better than average chance of a warmer than normal winter.

"That translates to about a 40 percent chance. Precipitation wise, they are looking for equal chances of above, below, and near normal precipitations. Anything could happen precipitation wise."

Cote says there is no sign of any sort of La Nina or El Nino patterns, and that it's hard to know just how much above normal we will see so it's unclear if there will be less snow.

The outlook does not project seasonal snowfall accumulations as snow forecasts are generally not predictable more than a week in advance.
